NEW Low-Stress Cat Days at Comer Vet
And ... save this newsletter for online Thanksgiving week savings!

Your feline family members are often our most joyous patients we see here at Comer Veterinary Hospital, and ... sometimes they aren't. This usually stems from a stress response starting at home when they see the dreaded carrier come out of hiding and they have to be placed (often forced) into it. From that point on, these cats are on a "high", so to speak. When they finish the trek to the clinic they are, needless to say, not in the best headspace when they arrive. Some cats will freeze, and others? Well, let’s just say they are more than ready to come out of the carrier and fight anything they can get their claws on.
We had the privilege of having Dr. Autumn McBride come in and give us pointers on how to make all of our feline patients feel more at ease and comfortable when here. She gave us some great insight into feline behavior and what to do in our clinic to help the owner from the time an appointment is made until the cat is brought into the clinic. Dr. McBride also gave the entire staff pointers on handling, restraint, and tips to use when our feline patients have to be hospitalized.
We will be enacting some of Dr. McBride’s amazing recommendations to make sure our feline patients have the best experience possible while visiting the clinic, including:
Calming pheromones in our cat-only exam room
A special morning that will be dedicated to our feline patients to ensure there are no dogs to add stress
Delicious treats to entice kitty patients.
We cannot thank Dr. McBride enough for her time, bringing us this valuable information, and helping us implement these new changes that will bring a better understanding and trust for our feline patients and our amazing staff.

To our veterans and first responders: We are grateful for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to our community.
As a small token of our appreciation, the Comer Vet team offers a 10 percent discount to all veterans and first responders this month. Please present your military ID or service badge during your appointment so we can apply your discount!
